This practice comes from the buddhist tradition and is called Metta. Metta is the Sanscrit word for love or more precisely loving kindness. In this kind of practice we create within the wish for the happiness of ourselves and others. It is important to begin this type of practice by offering ourselves loving kindness for only when we have self-compassion can we truly be compassionate to others.
