Most of the time we are not fully aware of the thoughts happening in our head. Unconscious or semi-conscious thoughts can have a great influence on our body and emotions. This simple practice helps us gain clarity and understanding in our thinking process.
Sometimes this may feel like observing a raging storm of thoughts but by simply observing it we allow it to calm down.
